Hair restored as ICC elite umpire

Australian Darrell Hair has been recalled to the International Cricket Council's Elite panel of umpires.
Hair has not officiated in a major match since the infamous Oval Test in 2006, when Pakistan refused to play amid suggestions of ball-tampering.

The 55-year-old was subsequently dropped from the panel.
He began a racial discrimination claim against cricket's governing body but dropped the case and has since been on an ICC rehabilitation programme.

Hair, who umpired the first of his 135 one-day internationals in December 1991 and the first of 76 Test matches in January 1992, will now be available to resume as an official in both forms of the game at international level.

Although I was not happy about the monies he asked for ect.... it was right he spoke up about the ball tampering. Its been going on for years and at last someone had the balls to stand up and speak out. Glad his back.... wot say put him charge of the nest Pakistan India test series?

lol...not sure about the ball tampering issue as Inzi and co. were cleared of all charges relating to that offence, and to be honest after having seen close up of the ball in question, Im not sure what the fuss was about.
Hair is a good umpire and its good to see him restored to the elite bored, he's had his controversies with India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka - maybe why we've seen the race card played here to an extent, but I dont buy into that.
Will be interesting to see what happens if he gets called up for a tour involving Pakistan.
