Allardyce - the dream is over?

I used the telegraph because it has the video of him and the incidents in question.  Wegner has come out and said that everyone needs to give Sam the time to present a response to the allegations, but, appears pretty damning on the surface.

Yeah, seems like he has been a naughty boy. While watching n listening to the telegraph video there wasnt much in it that offended me as I felt it was the kinda thing you would expect to be spoken about by managers at all professional level.

I am disappointed for him but not surprised.

As I understand it, this Telegraph sting could well be the first of a number of high profile football people being exposed. A top football manager has told Sky sports that he was interviewed by the same people but left the meeting as soon as they raised the subject of Bungs in football.

He also reviled he believes as many as Ten other managers working in this country have been spoken to by this mob.

While Sky refused to reveal his name, you could tell by the reporter its a top top manager.

No doubt it will slip out bit by bit and tonight we hear Nigel Pearson has been suspended by the Derby board and will not be involved in tonights fixture.

Sky are leading with unconfirmed reports that he lost his job tonight.... 7:30PM

Has been confirmed that big Sam has been let go.

Not happy with the sting operation by the Telegraph. If they catch somebody doing wrong so be it, but they shouldn't be encouraging indivuduals to do wrong so they can get a story.

The FA knew what Allardyce was all about and they hired him anyway. Kind of phoney of them to act all shocked and offended now. But that is the FA, dosen't help their reputation among football supporters.

The tragic think about this is Southgate will manage the next 4 games. He shouldn't bee anywhere near the England set up.

He's the manager of the national team in the most popular sport in the country, a country that is known for the press trying to expose public figures, for an organisation that made a huge deal out of the FIFA corruption and was actually one of the ones that called FIFA out before the investigations. That organisation has also recently made a big deal out of trying to get the players to sign up to a code of conduct.

If, in that climate, he's so fucking stupid and complacent that when some relative strangers approach him and start talking asking him about some dodgy dealings he actually starts telling them how to circumvent his employers rules instead of telling them to piss off, then he fucking well deserves to be sacked.

Bollocks to people feeling sorry for him.

Yeah I fully accept Milt's point of view on this. Sam has nobody to blame than himself.

This morning it has emerged he only met these people at the hotel as a favour to his friend of 30 years n agent Scot McGarvey.


Baring in mind the only other person the FA interviewed for the job is Steve Bruce, can we expect him to turn up after the next two games?

Of course he has been stupid but that is Allardyce. The FA never should have picked him if they wanted a choir boy. My problem with this is it is entrapment, it would not be admissible in a court of law.

4 games get us to the end of November, England does not have another game til the end of March and then don't play again til the middle of June. Wenger said he wanted to finish out his contract with Arsenal. Could be in line for the job once the season ends in May.

I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on this one.  Don't see Wenger taking the job. Given Arsenal's current form, granted it can sink like a stone at any moment; this is Arsenal afterall -  Kroenke is more determined now than ever to have Arsene put pen to paper with the extension that was proposed to him back in May.   It was tabled as an 'insane offer', and he wants to get it done asap.  With other rumours that Ozil has already inked a new deal - some saying he hasn't but close, at £200k/wk and getting Wilshere's #10 next season, Ozil has stated time and again it was Wenger that was the draw to Arsenal, not Arsenal themselves.  Why sign, or consider signing, a new contract if your reason for being there is going to leave at the end of the season?  Not like Ozil couldn't play elsewhere, and for the money being spent today, he could probably do better.  Not saying it all rides on Ozil, but, the team does look decent and that was the other thing that Wenger has suggested his decision to extend would be based on - Arsenal's performance at the start of the campaign.  

Dunno.  Just don't see it happening, myself.

I think you are right Gooner, Wenger will sign an extension at Arsenal. Just think he could be good for England.

Heard that some papers in Germany are saying Ozil has agreed to resign with Arsenal. £200,000 a week is a big salary for Arsenal. Is anyone there on more than £100,000? Will cause everyone else at Arsenal to ask for a raise. Personally I thought you would have trouble holding on to Ozil and Sanchez, good on you if you do manage to do so.

This Ozil thing. Jose said when he spoke to him once he knew Arsenal were in for him, Ozil said he would have signed for Chelsea, but had already given his word to Wenger.

At least, thats what Jose said.

Cant see either party, FA or Wenger wanting to get together. You have to understand the FA nailed their bollocks to a English manager.

I would expect more of the same and lets face it, The England job, while well paid, the players are shit, so nobody of substance is going to fall over themselves to take over, which underlines why Wenger, an intelligent man, would never take the job.

As before, Hoddle is attracting much tipping, but can we really go back to him after the way he lost the job?

I would take Hoddle back. It was probably the last time England looked like they could actually win a tournament when he was manager.

He was basically fired for his religious beliefs. While the idea that Karma, and reincarnation and that your lot in life is determined on what you did in your past lives is not shared by many in the West, in the East it is widely held.

Cech, Walcott, Sanchez, Giroud, Ramsey and I think Xhaka are at £100k and above.  And you are right, there is going to be a whole shitload of pay raises happening when Ozil inks a new deal, and with all the new money, it seem inevitable.  Bellerin, is another that should see a significant pay raise to keep him at the Emirates.  Sanchez will demand parity with Ozil, as he was making 10k/wk less before and was upped to £140k/wk as a result of being a tad disgruntled with it.  We will have to pay it too, as it's accepted that either will walk if we don't and we'd just be utterly stupid not to.  Pay them what they want, be the big Club here for once - and be thankful we were able to keep them in red and white.  

Your suggestion of us not being able to keep the pair is spot on - not that long ago I was almost figuring that there was no way we were going to be able to re-sign them, either.

Wenger has set the media on fire this morning by stating he is open to becoming England manager.......... One day.
